ABOUT ME
Hello again! I'm Yessica, a Certified Holistic Health Coach by IIN and founder of SCH. I'm committed to promoting well-being through self-check-ins with the world.

But as everyone does, I have a story, a before and after, and a continued journey.

Growing up, I remember food, body size, and diets were subjects where I grew up, and it seemed like everyone around me was trying to get bigger or smaller. So, of course, that became part of my norm, as it became their norm for them growing up.

When I was 12 years my right hip broke; soon after, I was diagnosed with arthritis, and my life forever changed.
When I was 17 years old, my mom moved my siblings and me to the US, and our immigrant life began, but that is a story for another day.

In between those years, I was obsessed with counting calories, using exercise as punishment or my way to make myself smaller, and thinking that health meant being on a diet, all to look smaller in my Latina body.

In the summer of 2021, I was 24 years old. I had my first hip replacement due to arthritis again. That was the first time in my adulthood life that I had this much free time to reflect on what my life was becoming. I knew I didn't have a good relationship with my body or food; I was struggling with my mental and emotional health, so after surgery, I was alone in my room, and I started craving a new norm for myself. I was tired of restrictive diets, using exercise to make myself smaller, comparing myself, and putting myself down.

So, I began to question the meaning of my life. Why I was never content with my body because even at the times when I was the smallest size I had ever been, my self-esteem was low, and I felt insecure about myself. I was struggling with my mental health, and I had this idea that once you lose the "extra weight," everything else solves it selves and you are finally happy.

It wasn't until I had that time with myself after surgery that I was faced with all these questions that I didn't have the answers to. At the time, I felt like I didn't know what was true or what would work for me with all the information I absorbed growing up and all that I was consuming on the internet. All I knew was that I wanted a change, but I was overwhelmed and lost in my journey.

So I did what we all do: I went to the Internet looking for answers, only to get more confused. Then, I found IIN through a friend and my therapist, and I quickly signed up for their next available program.

There, I learned all the tools I needed to help myself get out of that obsessive mindset about food and how I was supposed to look. I learned about multidimensional health and bio-individuality, and as I practiced these tools outside the classes, I realized that the first step to an inner transformation was getting to know yourself, then my needs and wants. From there, I tried to adjust as needed to find what worked for me. You see, I adapted the tools to meet my personal needs.
I learned that I wasn't lost; I was always making the same choices and for the wrong reasons. I was following diets and routines that didn't align with my health needs and my overall well-being. So, once I knew more about myself, I took charge of my health and personal growth, and things started to change mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This time, I followed an action plan that was sustainable and adapted to me over time because it was designed to meet my needs, wants, goals, and lifestyle.
My mission:
To share with the world daily Self-Check-Ins as a door to open for self-reflection, getting to know yourself, honoring your goals, needs, and wants, discovering what works for you, what doesn't, and what needs to go. As your coach, I give you all the tools, space, and support for you to learn how to take action, walk the journey, and achieve your own INNER TRANSFORMATION.
